  1. I wonder if it might be more useful to list them by state?

    1. I was actually thinking that I would do that, but not until I have more to list. Great minds!

    2. Whoops, that was me! This site might be a good place to start, but I know of a few places in Colorado anyway I would list that aren't on the VPA's site. (They're not quiiiiiite HHMS since they're not really interpreted to a period -the Boulder History Museum does talk about the original house and family when visitors first come in though, and the Brenner Farm House is only open on appointment, but if it's never listed on anything, who will know to make an appointment? I grew up 15 minutes away from it and never knew about it until I moved away.)

    3. Would love to have them listed! To me, as a visitor, I would still want to know. Please shoot me an email with the sites, if you wouldn't mind! I am looking forward to having everyone's input. I think that this was definitely needed! :D

    5. I think that you meant the Brunner Farmhouse, because I cannot find the other spelling in Colorado.

  7. Your information about Monticello is not quite correct. Building of Monticello began in 1768, but the building process took many decades, and it was not 'finished' until 1809 (Jefferson was always making minor changes even after 1809). Thomas Jefferson based his designs of Monticello on architecture of late 18th Century Europe he saw on his travels there. Monticello is usually considered an example of Roman Classical Revival architecture, while "Roman Revival" usually is associated with Romanesque Revival, which didn't come in until the late Victorian Period. Thomas Jefferson's architectural achievements in general did make use of many neoclassical forms, and so Monticello could also be considered neoclassical, which the UNESCO description explains well. See: http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/442

  8. Thank you for the info, I will gladly change some of that. Please note that I do not use the word "Victorian" because these are American houses, and most people do not know the correct time that she was on the throne, and some would even say anything before 1930 and after 1960 from asking general questions of people on the street. :D
